How did Christmas Start?
Christmas was not celebrated by early Christians immediately after the birth of Jesus. The first recorded celebration of Christmas as a feast day occurred in 336 AD in Rome, where December 25 was established as the date to commemorate the birth of Christ. This date was likely chosen to coincide with existing pagan festivals, such as the Roman festival of Saturnalia and the celebration of the Unconquered Sun (Sol Invictus), which marked the winter solstice.
